Mt.Everest was formed 60 million years ago. and rises a few millimeters every year.It's summit ridge separates Nepal and Tibet.In Nepal, Mt.Everest is SAGARMATHA [mother of the universe] and in Tibet  it's CHOMOLANGMA [goddess mother of the snows].the british named it Mt.everest to honour Sir.George Everest .the surveyer general of India in 1865.the buddist monasteries stand at the base  of Mt.everest ot allow religious contemplation of the great peak.One at  Rougbuck glaicier Tibet ,the other at Thyangbochy ,Nepal.
